Meet the Drivers – A Season of Change

With the 2016 season underway, the Mopar Performance and Magneti Marelli powered by Mopar® team is off to the races, quite literally! This season presents itself with many exciting changes both in and around the track, providing us an opportunity to truly celebrate those who race on our behalf. A devoted team of superior talent; our 2016 drivers are something that Mopar can surely be proud of. Rejoining the Motorsports team is Pro Stock driver Erica Enders, pairing up with our own Jeg Coughlin Jr. who’s coming off a red hot 2015 season earning a record 7 NHRA eliminators in a single season. Enders is now the two time defending Pro Stock world champion and is the fortunate driver of the Elite Motorsports Dodge Dart. Teamed with five-time Pro Stock world champion Coughlin Jr. to represent the Mopar® and Magneti Marelli offered by Mopar® (MMOBM) brands, these two are bound to make a bold impression as they drive this 2016 season forward.

Erica Enders has led a remarkable life and racing career filled with many inspiring accomplishments. She started racing competitively in 1992, at the early age of 8 and has been gaining immense success ever since. Not surprisingly, only a year after her career launch, Enders won the Division 4 Jr. Dragster championship. In 1995, she was named Junior Dragster Driver of the Year. During the eight years she competed in the junior dragster division, she obtained an impressive 37 career wins. At the age of 16, Enders competed in her very first national event final, making her the youngest NHRA national event finalist. She was naturally named NHRA Sportsman Rookie of the Year. In 2003, as a response to her great success, Enders experienced the unique honor of having her early career portrayed in a Disney Original Movie, Right On Track. This impressive childhood career built the foundation for an even more successful long-term racing career. In 2012, Enders became the first woman to win in NHRA Pro Stock, and in 2014, the first woman to win the NHRA Pro Stock World Championship. Her continued efforts paid off as she achieved this championship title for the second year in a row, maintaining her reign in the Pro Stock division. Mopar® is geared up to partner with Enders as she pursues a third NHRA Pro Stock World Championship title for the 2016 season.

Jeg Coughlin Jr. has paved the way in racing since his initial career start, owning six world championships and an impressive 76 victories to date, including 58 professional victories and 18 sportsman wins. Ranked ninth amongst the best drag racers of all time, Coughlin has spent the better part of 2 decades securing his impressive ranks in the world of professional racing. The youngest son of legendary racer Jeg Coughlin Sr., Coughlin Jr. is the only driver in history to win four different classes in the same season, which he accomplished in 1997 by winning Pro Stock, Super Stock, Super Gas and Comp. Additionally, Coughlin Jr. is the first and only NHRA driver to claim victories in seven different classes in a single season, securing national event Wallys in Pro Stock, Comp, Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Top Dragster. Alongside an impressive list of accomplishments, Jeg is a five-time Pro Stock champion and has one Super Gas world title – and let’s not forget the NHRA rookie of the year title he obtained back in 1998. With a sincere passion and stellar reputation for drag racing, Jeg Coughlin Jr. will contend for his sixth Pro Stock world championship in the Mopar – powered Magneti Marelli Dodge Dart for Elite Motorsports.
