A Jeep vehicle can take you to some pretty out-of-the way places. Muddy doors and wheels are a badge of honor.

Not sure how to get back home? Look at the hood.

Mopar’s Jeep Performance Parts line now has full-size hood decals that can be customized with topographical or street map images. It’s the ultimate navigation map.

The map decals can fit Jeep Wranglers as far back as the 2007 model year, the 2014-2015 Jeep Cherokee and the Jeep Grand Cherokee going back to the 2011 model.

The hardest part? Deciding which map area to choose. The folks over at Jalopnik seem to have some great ideas. Sure, it’s easy if you happen to live near some nice mountainous terrain. But flat-landers might want to consider one of the pre-selected designs, such as Hell’s Revenge or Rubicon Trail.

The design process begins at www.mopar.com/jeephoods. There, you can pick out the map area for the decal, based either on ZIP code or name of the area. Also, you get to choose between a topographical map (a look that has been popular on recent Jeep concepts such as the Cherokee Trail Carver from the 2013 SEMA show) or a street map. The design tool also lets you add a bulls-eye icon for that special spot on the map, as well as a color border.

When you’re happy with what you see, the online tool emails you a design code. Take that code to a Chrysler Group dealer to get your decal ordered. Turnaround time is pretty quick.

The decal is printed on high-quality 3M film and has a suggested retail price of $295. It comes with a three-year warranty. You can have anyone install the decal. But if you opt to have it installed at the dealership (with an additional charge for labor), the warranty also covers the installation.

A Jeep hood decal – it’s the ultimate answer to the question, “Do you know where you’re going?”

Where will you place your bulls-eye?
