Downtown Golden, Colo. will become the center of the Mopar® universe later this month as the 15th annual Mile High Block Party comes to town.
The event takes place July 21, 2016, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., but Mopar® enthusiasts from around the world will converge on the Centennial State for a full weekend of racing fun as the 37th annual Mopar® Mile-High NHRA Nationals rev up just down the road from the Block Party at Bandimere Speedway.
Trust us when we say: If you live by the “Mopar® or No Car” creed, you do not want to miss this party. It’s a fun time for the whole family (even your #MoPets).
Washington Avenue, right in the heart of downtown Golden, is the place to be. Right as you walk through the main gate, which will be at the intersection of Washington & 11th Street, you’ll find plenty of awesome Mopar® gear on one side of the road and a bunch of classic FCA cars; on the other side, you’ll find a bunch of beautiful FCA classic cars, which are being brought to the party by Denver area enthusiasts.
Right near Windy Saddle Café, just south of the Mopar® merchandise area, we’ll have slot car races and a reaction time game to test your skills. There will also be an E-Shots photo opportunity near these games…and the best part is, if you register for E-Shots, you have a chance to win an FCA vehicle!
Renowned gearhead, Speed TV personality, and Denver DJ Willie B. will be your MC for the evening, and he’ll get things popping from the main stage, located on the southwest corner of Washington & 13th Street, right near Icelantic ski shop.
Grab your dancing shoes: Willie B. won’t be on the mic the whole night, as the Steve Thomas Band will take the stage to provide some tunes. The Steve Thomas Band specializes in 80’s covers, but they dabble in a little bit of everything.
Across from the main stage, near Starbucks and Woody’s, NHRA fans will be in their glory when they get a chance to meet our Mopar® drivers and get autographs from 6:45-7:45. Fast Jack Beckman will also have his race car on display at the Infinite Hero area, between 11th & 12th right by Buffalo Rose Saloon, where you can also learn more about what the Infinite Hero Foundation is all about.
Naturally, there will be FCA vehicles to gaze at up and down Washington: Trail Cat, Trailstorm, Mopar® ’16, Challenger AWD, Charger Deep Stage 3, Drag Pak SC (supercharged). Our Jeep® enthusiasts will also be thrilled to see the Jeep® Performance Parts section, which will be near D’Deli, between 12th and 13th. Just north of that, you’ll find a dealership merchandise area.
If Matt Hagan’s Funny car catches your eye across the street from our Jeep® Performance Parts, you’ve found the Shell/Pennzoil/Mopar® Express Lane section. In addition to Matt’s Funny car, you’ll find some Pro Stock cars. You can even get behind the wheel of our racing simulator! Heading just north of the Express Lane, you can take your junior Mopar® fan for Magneti-Marelli face-painting.
What if you already have plans with a friend or family member who isn’t a gearhead like you? If they’re into tools and home improvement, we’ve got them covered with the Snap-on Tools display, which you’ll find between 11th & 12th. How about the foodie in your life or the beer connoisseur? Table Mountain Inn will have food and beer tents throughout the Block Party. To top it all off, all of the great shops, restaurants, etc. in downtown Golden will be open for business during the event!
Needless to say, those who love Mopar® should race on over to downtown Golden for the Block Party. If you’re town, be sure to let us know on social media by using #MoparBP16 or #MoParty.
